Build Your Own Tractor

Build your own tractor cart? - MyTractorForum.com - The Friendliest ...

A chicken tractor is probably the easiest to construct of all the types of Chicken Coops. All you need to have is some chicken wire and lumber. Make sure that you provided at least 4 square feet of space to the chicken inside the tractor, in order for the chickens to freely roam around the tractor. The reason why chicken tractors are commonly called chicken ark is because of the fact that the common shape of a chicken tractor is aAa. The tractor should not be any more than 3 or 4 feet long while being around 3 feet high. If you have more chickens, then add more space to your tractor.

Choose the correct size of the wire mesh for your tractor to be able to protect the chickens from predators. It should be 15 mm square at the largest. The tractor should be surrounded by a fence with wire mesh. The base of the tractor should be buried at least 30 centimeters below the ground to keep animals like rats and foxes from digging underneath it. Tractors should be well-ventilated but the chickens should not be directly in the wind. Include roosting poles too, because this is where chickens sleep. Place one nesting box per four or five chickens in a dark corner and a little off the floor. Put a plastic tray under the roosting pole to easily clean up droppings. Make the entire tractor easy to clean.

Keep the feeders and waterers filled up for the chicken. Bear in mind that you need to keep moving the tractor around your backyard for you to have the desired result. Observe how quickly your birds tend to operate so that you may determine the frequency of moving the tractor to new places. Remember that chickens take asand-bathsa which means, that if you leave them on a spot for too long they will probably scratch away quite a lot of the top layer.

Keep in mind all these matters for you to have a great chicken tractor.

  2. QUESTION:
GUYS in their 20s--Do you think this a good idea? Or too over the top?
My bf is in his late 20s and I know he wants a John Deere hat. So I've decided to get him one for our anniversary (don't worry, it's not one of the "big" anniversaries). Do you think it would be over the top if I put the hat on a teddy bear and gave it to him? Build a bear makes some that coordinate a whole outfit. Personally, I think it's adorable, but I don't want him to think it's stupid! My bf is pretty young at heart though, so I think he might like it. Or it could be one of those things that guys would think is gay!

The bear has overalls and everything, but I just don't want to get him something that looks like it's for a little kid, even if I do think it's cute...here is a picture!

The hat I'm getting him is not the one in the picture...it's bigger. :-) Thoughts? Thanks :

    • ANSWER:
A hat on a bear is something YOU think is cute. Try to think from his POV. Unless he has a large collection of teddy bears, he will not much care for the idea. Oh, he'll fake that he likes it to spare your feelings, but he won't like it.

How about you tell him you have a gift for him and to wait in another room. Then go to the room where he is waiting wearing nothing but the hat. Say something like "I got this hat for you but I think it might look better on me, what do you thinkg?"

  4. QUESTION:
What's the worst car your parent's ever owned and did you proudly get in it or resort to taking the bus?
My mum used to have a white Skoda which said '5 speed' on the boot (ooooh 5 speed wow) and was built like a tank - we're talking the old 80's type. It sounded like a tractor and always overheated. It was the biggest pile of rubbish she ever owned and was a complete embarrassment - however, I always got in and took a ride home!

    • ANSWER:
My parents had a van that was held together with duct tape and sheer will power. You could not open the back door, because it would fall off. But I never turned down a ride.

  5. QUESTION:

and How to make your own Limousine.
Not much to do with fast cars then?

  6. QUESTION:
how do you keep someone off your property?we recently got a survey done again on our commercial property.help!?
this has been one thing after another with this neighbor, this neighbor has told us he now owns property all the way up to our side doors on one side of our building after purchasing it recently a few years ago. We have used this vacant lot for 20 years. He has blocked up from using that side with mounds of dirt and semi trucks backed all the way up to our side door .It was our only access door on that side of the building. The mayor and city building inspector assured us before anything was ever built it would be engineered and planned out. AS soon as the mayor went on vacation for over a month the building went up quickly and no engineering was ever done Then he ended up building on a corner property line his eves our totally on our property and he continued to use our property to build on and we have seen him move the property stake We got a hold of the building inspector before any of this building went up and before the mayor went out of town they witnessed this problem and that the property stake has been moved it was not right .We now had all four corners surveyed and the survey totally shows his eves and one corner of the building sits on the corner of line. He has removed our mail box and will not stay off our property.Last weekend I left for lunch for a half an hour and the neighbor got out the back hoe tractor and dug up the land in between our buildings and was getting ready to put sewer pipes in. I called the cops the cops told him to stop he told them no, and proceeded till 10;30 at night to place pipes in and cover it all up and the cops they always say its a civil mater I have been to the city building inspector this whole time, the mayor knew about this dispute, the chief of police no one seems to help -today he finally hired his own surveyor but shouldn't he have already done that before ever building a building? he says he is not going to stay off what can someone do?help

  7. QUESTION:
Do you think the world would be a better place if...?
We could all give up our dependence on technology?

For instance if we started growing our own food, building our own houses, using horses instead of cars, candles instead of electricity, mules instead of tractors. If we did away with television and video games, and the internet. Basically if we devolved, so to speak, our technology. If we did this, which to my eyes would be near, if not completely, impossible, do you think we would be happier all around? No longer working for someone else, but doing things for ourselves. Go back to the the days of a twice or thrice yearly market day so we could trade goods with neighboring towns. I just want your opinion and why you feel that way. Thank you in advance for your answers.
Oh, goodness! I don't mean anything near as drastic as the Amish. They have their very deep religion to follow, and there are restrictions to what women can do. That is way off where I had in mind.
A couple people seem to be thinking along the lines I was, though. I do believe we have become too dependent on technology to give it up at theis stage. It would be nice if we could find a middle ground, though. I guess my depression has got me looking at beeter days. Nothing, but a fantasy, and a dream made of sand. Thanks for the answers so far. It's good to see what others think.

    • ANSWER:
I think people valued the important things in life a lot more before science and technology took over, but I don't think people would be able to manage without these things at this stage of the game. You don't miss what you never had, but taking away peoples freedoms would only create chaos and anger at this point. ;-)

    CHAPTER 1:
Indianapolis, Dayton, Columbus, Morgantown, Cumberland, Baltimore, Salisbury, The towns came and go, Callie not caring one bit, sulking, not saying a word while the rest of the family chatted about Blue Ridge, and how "great" it was supposed to be.
But to Callie, any place that does not have basketball can't be great. Instead, Callie remembered all the wonderful times she had on the farm and on the court. Help delivering a cow, which she named Ellie, making the game winning basket at the state championship game, milking all the cows every morning, making the varsity team for the next year, which, now, she wouldn't even get to play on, driving the tractor, walking across the soft earth barefoot, working in the fields all day, her dark farmers tan. She half-heartedly listened to her mother talking, and her sister asking questions about Blue Ridge.
"Mom, what time do classes start? Because you know I am not a morning person and can't get up early, like Callie."
"All your classes are 1 and 15 minutes long, and you have 15 minutes between classes, and they start at nine, although you might not have one at nine, the schedule is like college, and you will have free periods."
"Oh, ok, thats still way to early though."
"So are you going to try out for any sports?"
    "You know I hate sports!"
"What about you Callie? Are you going to do any sports?"
Callie ignored her, like she had been doing since she had to leave, letting her mother know how she felt about this new school.
As they entered Ocean City, Callie became more and more upset, reality sinking in, harder than ever. Her Future as a Basketball star, gone forever, her days at the farm, gone until June, fresh cow milk every morning, home grown produce, going barefoot, feeling the soft earth on the tough soles of her feet, all gone until June, the school holidays.
They pulled into the parking lot at Blue Ridge, and found the office soon afterward, and Callie sulked as her mother got her schedule, dorm assignment, and textbooks, and Jordyn got her own, as she was not uspet about Blue Ridge at all.
"This showed they truly were fraternal twins," Callie thought, "she was a country girl, and a hard core athlete. Jordyn, on the other hand, hated the country, was super girly, and hated sports. It seemed like the only thing they had in common was that their parents, teachers, and friends thought they were geniuses."
They had skipped the second grade, and STILL everyone thought they were geniuses, but Callie didn't think that she was, she was constantly confused in school, and didn't even get all a's. She got all A's in the off-season, but during basketball season it was all b's. Callie didn't get why everyone thought she was so smart, when she wasn't, she wasn't dumb, but she wasn't smart either.
They walked across campus, her parents and Jordyn admiring the ocean view, Callie loving it, but not showng it. She refused to give her parents any satisfaction.
"What dorm are two in?" asked Mom. Callie sat her suitcase and backpack down on the bench, took off her sunglasses and pulled out the folder with her schedule and dorm assignment. "That One" Callie said moodily at exactly the same time Jordyn said the exact same thing excitedly, as they both pointed at the same steel building right in front of them. It was the Amanda L. Wilkins dorm. All Blue Ridge dorms were named after the first teachers, who taught in 1993, when the school opened.
Callie did have to admit the dorm did look cool, Steel with a Blue Door and trim, and lots and lots of windows, all the way up to 9th floor. They entered the building and immediately felt the rush of cold air from the air conditioning. They took the elevator up to the 6th floor, stopping at the 5th floor when a scrawny little girl who looked like she was a 6th grader, got out with her parents.
They reached their own dorm, opened the door, and found one other girl already there, putting clothes in the closet. There was a set of bunk beds in one end, and two twin beds at the other. Callie and Jordyn sat their stuff on the twin beds, and introduced themselves to the other girl, whose name turned out to be Elise. Callie noticed that all her clothes were from name brand stores, most with tags still on them, and all very new looking. She glanced at her suitcase, stuffed full with clothes, none of them new, all at least a year old.
They started putting some of their own things away, too. Elise finished when they were halfway done, she told them they would go look at the campus when they were done, this was her first year also, as she plopped down on the huge 5-cushion couch, next to Callie's mom. The couch was ocean blue, just like the curtains, doors, bunk beds and trim.
One hour later, maps in hand, Callie, Jordyn, Elise walked out o
out of the dorm and onto the campus. Callie and Jordyn said good-bye to their parents, and promised to email on their new mac laptops every other day.
They walked around campus, seeing all the buildings, tennis courts, and the outdoor pool, as well as the gym and indoor pool. Callie felt a pang of sadness when they entered the gym, remembering her basketball dream. Tears welled up in her eyes, wishing with all her heart that Blue Ridge had a basketball team. I mean, they did have lots of sports teams, Volleyball, Football, Cross-Country, Wrestling, Boys Basketball, Swimming, Track and Field, Lacrosse, Soccer, Golf, Softball, Baseball, and Tennis, but no Girls Basketball team. With those thoughts in mind, especially the thought that the boys had a basketball team, made Callie start bawling, and she couldn't stop, nothing Jordyn or Elise said could stop her.
They went back to their dorm, and Callie laid on her bed and cried and cried. Finally, she felt she could cry no more and sat up. She went and sat on the couch, next to Jordyn. Elise asked Callie if she was okay, and after Callie replied (I guess so...)
    Callie started questioning Elise.
"So, do you play any sports?"
"Yeah, I played basketball last year, but obviously not anymore, but I will tryout for volleyball and softball, softball is my favorite sport"
The thought got Callie on the verge of tears again, but she held them back this time.
"What position do you play in basketball? I play point guard, and I was supposed to be the starter on the varsity team back in Wyoming."
"I also play point guard, but I was probably only going to be on Freshman or JV team back home"
The Threesome continued to talk, and found out that Elise was from Upstate New York. She had 3 brothers and 5 sisters. Her youngest brother, Jakob, and youngest sister, Edyn, went to public school in New York, and lived at home as they were too young to attend Blue Ridge. Jeremy, 11, lived in the Benjamin A. Huebsch dorm. Kaelyn was 12 and has Autism, so she goes to a special school in New York for Autistic children.
Her 13 year old sister Isabelle was in the Melissa D. Wible dorm. Living in the Adrienne L. Young dorm was her sister, Kristin. Off at college were Kylie and Mason, her oldest siblings.

Elise, Callie, and Jordyn went down to the Cafeteria, and had dinner, slices of pepperoni pizza, salad, and hot fudge sundaes. Full and tired, they went back to their dorm, the dorm door slamming behind them, waking the last roommate, who had appeard while they were at dinner.
"Why the hell did you dumb asses wake me up?" asked the roommate, who was dressed fully in black leatherhear long fingernails painted black, her dirty blonde hair, was dyed black, the very tips showing dirty blonde, proving it was dyed.
It is called "Shattered Dreams", I think, lol I haven't decided.

  11. QUESTION:
How am I being harsh and brutal with my daughter?
I am currently married, and we have an 8 year old daughter together. However, we previously split up shortly after her birth, and I haven't been living continuously with her until a year ago.

She is very poorly mannered--whining on a constant basis, back-talking both of us, continually disobeying an order even when you say "No--no--NO! DIDN'T YOU HEAR ME?!? I SAID NO!" Her grades at school were horrifying--she had to repeat a grade, not because she is learning disabled, but because she would rather make paper dolls and draw pictures as opposed to paying attention and doing her homework assignments.

My wife's idea of "discipline" is shrieking at her, putting her in a timeout chair, and nothing further. One day after this girl flipped me off, I decided to put my foot down and introduce some real discipline, but my wife says I'm being too brutal. Here are some examples:

Case #1: Some construction workers were painting a building across from us, and she thought she would be cute and throw mud balls all over one side of a freshly painted wall. Since this was directly before I was supposed to be taking her and 3 of her cousins to a carnival, I made her stay with me on the bench while the other 3 children rode all the rides.

Case #2: I overheard her using the F word once again. As opposed to my wife simply saying "Watch your mouth!" I squirted some liquid soap on a paper towel and rubbed it all over her tongue and teeth.

Case #3: Her 3 cousins came over for a little get together party my wife decided to hold for them. My daughter asked me if they could hook up my Playstation 3. Being that she has a serious issue mistreating property, be it hers or someone else's, and being that she broke her own Nintendo Wii only after 5 months, I told her no and explained why. After about an hour, I went downstairs to see the 4 children gathered around the television, with the television facing away from the doorway and the volume turned down. I then saw that she had gone in my room, sneaked out the Playstation 3, and hooked it up anyway. I hollered at her right in front of the other 3 and ordered her straight to bed. I refused to let her come out as the other children partied.

Case #4: She was outside playing with her friends, and I looked outside to discover her playing inside one of the tractors of the above said construction site. Being that I previously warned her to stay out of there, I went over and once again yelled at her in front of her friends even though she was clearly embarrassed, then ordered her to bed--even though it was only 5 pm.

My wife says I need to ease up, but she has been doing absolutely nothing to direct this child. Who is right?

    • ANSWER:
In my personal opinion, I think you're going a bit overboard--just a bit. I have comments on the cases you presented:

      1. I completely agree with what you did.

      2. Soap in the mouth isn't my thing but some people do it. If it worked, hey! Great.

      3. I disagree with giving out some random consequences for her breaking her Wii. The two just aren't logically connected to me. But, I completely agree with consequences for her blatantly going against what you said.

      4. Sending her to bed at 5 pm was okay I think but not the yelling at her.

I think you both need to stop yelling. It's not effective behavior modification and only serves to make the child immune to yelling. Some time ago, they did a study on what effective disciplaniarians do. One thing they found was that the effective parents give a big dose of empathy before the consequence. What that helps to do is to let the child realize that it was their own behavior that caused the consequences. It's not coming from the parent, but from the child's own actions. "Ohhh, dang it Suzie. I'm sorry you punched a hole in the wall. It looks like you'll be spending your next week's allowance on the repair supplies and your Saturday helping me fix it instead of going to the pool." In my opinion, the consequences should be related to the misbehavior if at all possible.

Maybe you and your wife could browse through some books, DVD's, websites, etc on discipline and agree on one particular method. Or, come up with your own thing that you can both stick to.

I think a good idea would be to have the household rules listed somewhere. (No swearing, Respect property, Don't disobey mom or dad.) Then let her know what the consequences of breaking the rules are. Taking away privledges would be a good one. Maybe no TV or computer the following day or something. Also, I think a reward system would be good. Maybe a point system or some kind of chart. A sticker chart...When you catch her being "good" at random times, add a sticker to the line for that day and let her know why. Maybe for every 10 stickers there could be some tangible reward; another dollar to her allowance or a trip to the park, for example. "Oh, Suzie you did exactly what I asked you to. Thank you. I'm putting a sticker on your chart." I'm just blabbering out ideas.

I think you and your wife do need to meet in the middle somewhere and come up with a discipline plan that you can both do, either your own or one that one of the "experts" has come up with.

Antique Tractors Parts

Details - Register to Bid/Change Bidder Info

Many folks own antique tractors for sentimental reasons, investment potential, and a raft of other reasons not related to agriculture. Eugene Mohr, a Minneapolis Moline collector from Vail, Iowa, observed that, as general rule, tractors from the eastern part of USA are far more apt to have rust problems and stuck engines, while those from the western part of the country tend to suffer more tire damage due to exposure to the sun and dry rot. It's regularly better not to get too hung up on your list of needs that you may have drawn up, your list should merely act as a guideline which develops as you look at more and more tractors and learn more about the tractors themselves and indeed about what you need.
One of the commonest reasons is that the tractors bring back fond memories.

You'll need a midsized or larger tractor, for pulling a PTO powered a baler be certain to consider all sorts of work when defining your dream tractor. With a bit of planning you may be able to find a better that is's keeps your PTO hp needs in the range twenty-five to 35 depending of course on the terrain the type of grass and the weather conditions.
Not all of the hp generated by the engine is available to drag a load or drive a PTO-powered implement. There are lots of things, of course, that can tip you off to potential issues, one is the hose between the carburetor and the air cleaner tube : If it is a cracked or missing, the engine might have sucked in lots of mud and will require work.

What would be a good starter John Deere Tractor Project?
My young son is totally into John Deere Tractors. I am thinking about getting a 30 hp antique model to play around on. One that needs some TLC, but not one that needs to be broken in half for a ground up restoration.

If you were going to start with that, with a good stand blasting and coat of paint, ease of finding parts, and ease of entry, what would be a good John Deere tractor to start off with?
The tractor is more for Daddy right now, but would like to be able to have stuff like this in the backyard so I my son progresses, he will have an understanding and appreciation. I am not getting it so he can operate on his own.

    • ANSWER:
For a backyard tractor the A series may be a bit much. In it's day it was considered a midsized multiple use machine. There were only two models bigger, the D and the G. The model B was one of the most popular small sizes but the L, M and H model John Deeres are all smaller than the B. The model isn't the factor of what you will need to do to restore. They were all quality machines in their day and what they will need to be restored depends on the condition when you buy. Opt for a row crop (wide stance) front end since they are more stable. A consideration for a new driver, be it you or your boy when his turn comes.

Antique Tractor Tires

If you think that, your antique autos are old and have no value at all, think again. There is a way to earn through these antique vehicles too. All you need to do is restore them and put it for sale for those people, who prefer to collect vintage vehicles. The price of any vintage vehicle increases with the amount of efforts that you put in to give a new look to it.

How to Give a New Look to Antique Autos?

To give a new look to your antique automobiles, you need to follow two important steps. First is the restoration step and other is the selling step. Listed below are the details of these two steps:

Restoration:

1. Adequate amount of space: This is the first step towards restoring your antique vehicles. The amount of space required mainly depends on how many vehicles you intend to restore. You also need to consider the amount of space required for disassembling the auto parts of these antique vehicles and assembling them back.

2. Genuine Auto Parts: Try to use genuine auto parts to the maximum extent. This will help you to add value to your vehicle and you may be able to influence potential buyers to buy these vehicles at the asked price.

3. New Look: Try to give your vehicle a new look by researching through various auto magazines or the Internet. Try to maintain the original look of the vehicle as much as possible, because it will add value to your vehicle and help to fetch a better price. Try to be creative, if possible, while changing the look of the vehicle.

4. Help of Professionals: You may take the help of a professional only when you are short of time, knowledge or money when restoring antique vehicles. There may be a time, when you need to take assistance of a professional.

Selling:

1. Maintenance: After you are done with the restoration process, you may now sell your antique vehicles. The selling procedure may take sometime, during which, you need to perform all the maintenance services and ensure that the vehicle is in working condition.

2. Decide the Price: You need to have a detailed list of prices for your vehicles. This is helpful, when a buyer may request you to present your price list. This is a wonderful strategy to sell your antique vehicles.

3. Know your Vehicle: It is important for you to have through knowledge about all your antique autos, which you are selling. Sometimes, buyers may be unaware about the vehicles they are looking for. You need to be able to answer all the questions of buyers to convince them in buying your antique vehicles.

4. Advertisements: In some cases, you need to advertise about your antique vehicles. You may do so by placing an advertisement in classifieds. You may also consider the Internet for advertising purposes.

Antique autos are very profitable, if you are able to invest your time, money, patience and knowledge in a proper manner to maintain, restore and sell them.

Antique John Deere Tractor Values

Beginning to search for a tractor for sale that will give you trouble free service is not an easy thing to do. As a hobby collecting and reconditioning vintage tractors has become very important and popular over the last few years. These are many reasons for this; firstly they are relatively cheap to buy, and maintain and sometimes they cost less than the tax on a new agriculture tractor Also, even though these are antique or vintage tractors it doesn't mean that they can't still contribute to daily life on a farm. One of the great things these tractors is their simplicity. Each tractor has its own history and can be restored to become a major source of pride and enjoyment to whoever has taken the time and effort to restore it. But, how do you identify and choose the right tractor for you and make sure that it is a good investment?
Once you begin your search you will see that the makes and models and options are infinite and that you will have no problems finding a machine to suit your needs and your budget. As with other collectable items, you should first understand your needs as this will drive what and how you start your search. Take some time to understand your needs then you will have to translate them into a list of requirements that will give you a clear picture of what you are looking for.
It goes without saying that what you want the tractor to do will determine what type of tractor you choose. Collectors will tell you that some of the most collectable tractors do not make very good work tractors because of their age or maintenance requirements and on the flip-side careful restoration of an very common machine could not be worth the many hours (not to mention the cost of that perfect original paint mix).
The first thing you should do is detailed research when thinking about investing in an antique tractor. Research books are available that hold this information giving you every detail you need to know about a particular tractor model.
Collectability, hours on the clock, PTO, etc make up the main points for choosing what type, size, brand, or model of tractor you want are looking for, a more basic set of factors must be used for determining the exact tractor you will invest in. As mentioned earlier, reconditioning an antique collectable tractor will have a completely different checklist.
Those that need a machine for working their farm are in a better position to get what they need quickly but it is amazing how many people buy the wrong type of tractor and become disillusioned with old machines. The first thing you should look at is the layout of your farm, also how hilly is it and what type of farm machinery will you be using. If you plan on using the tractor for tillage, such as barley or corn, then you should consider a Nuffield M4, a Nuffield universal because other machines may be too low to the ground and cause damage to your crop. As an alternative if , you may need to consider something like a Massey-Harris 20 or a Massey Ferguson 135 . If you want to use farm machinery with your antique tractor, you should look at the horsepower requirements of this implement and make sure the tractor you decide on has the weight and the correct horsepower to successfully complete the job. If you see the need for a 12 foot disk harrow, then you will need more power than a Fordson Power Major Thorough basic research will ensure that you don't make these basic mistakes. Getting this part wrong may result in having to start to search again for speedex tractors for sale from the beginning again.Don't get carried away with the physical appearance of the machine because the mechanical operation of the engine gearbox and PTO should be clear you focus your full attention. Many good day to day tractors haven't seen paint in years and will have been repaired and maintained with a range of strange materials. Getting this part wrong may result in having to start to search again for david brown tractors for sale from the beginning again.

For those interested in motorcycles, motorcycle trikes are a relatively new and exciting phenomenon. Motorcycle trikes can be seen all over – at the gas pump, on the highway, on long and winding roads. Many people who have not seen a motorcycle trike before are almost dumbfounded by the sight; what looks like a typical motorcycle with two wheels actually has three at closer inspection. Essentially, a motorcycle trike is a gigantic tricycle with a very powerful engine – for adults only.

If you are drawn to attention, a motorcycle trike is a great choice! Everyone knows what a traditional motorcycle looks like – sleek body, two wheels, and powerful engine. But a motorcycle trike has all that and more – an extra wheel. Any motorcycle trike owner must be prepared to be deluged by a flood of questions from curious onlookers. Here are some of the basics when it comes to motorcycle trikes.

The Cost of a Motorcycle Trike

A motorcycle trike must be custom made, so there is the cost of the motorcycle plus the conversion. In general, an average motorcycle may cost between ,000 and ,000. The conversion may cost up to ,000. Some motorcycle trikes are sold used, so it is possible to purchase one that already exists. Prices of used motorcycle trikes will vary, depending on what the owner asks. When purchasing a motorcycle trike, it is always a good idea to have it professionally inspected by a mechanic.

Where to Get Motorcycle Trikes

There are trike conversion companies offering their services, most of which are located in the United States and Canada. Most of these companies are able to convert any motorcycle into a trike quite easily. The rear wheel and any saddlebags are removed and the bike is rebuilt from there. Additionally, there are motorcycle trike kits that consumers may purchase to do the conversion on their own. Doing this is not highly advised without sufficient experience.

Safety Concerns

Many people confuse motorcycle trikes with the 3-wheel ATVs that were banned in the past. Motorcycle trikes are actually much safer than ATVs as they have a low center of gravity, a shaft drive, powerful engines, and wide rear tires. Overall, motorcycle trikes are quite safe and stable.

Motorcycle trikes do have several advantages over traditional motorcycles, aside from being safer in general. One pleasant aspect of driving a motorcycle trike is that riders do not need to put their feet down when they come to a stop. Furthermore, a passenger may ride without the prospect of tipping the bike over during the ride. The addition of a third wheel also prevents fatigue for riders who travel in stop-and-go traffic.

At both rallies, bike shows, and with general motorcycle enthusiasts, the popularity of motorcycle trikes is growing more and more. For any bike enthusiast that is looking for something a little out of the ordinary, a motorcycle trike is definitely the way to go. They are fun, exciting, and will definitely bring a bit of extra attention to the rider in any location.

Antique Tractor Part

Unlike many collectors of antiques, antique tractor collectors and users don't have clubs that give definitive answers as to what vintage, classic, or antique means. The word antique is a catchall word for any tractor that appears to be adequately old. Some folks reserve the terms such as classic or vintage for more contemporary models, but there is not any agreement as to precisely when each term applies. Most folks appear to agree the 1960s models of most makes represent the cusp of antique tractors. Frequently models that were produced in the 1960s began their production years in the 1950s and therefore share design similarities with older tractors. Many tractors from the 1960s , however , such as John Deere's New Generation tractors, represent a step up in technology and a departure from older designs. While tractors such as the New Generation are covered in this book and are quickly becoming collectible, they are not yet considered antique.

This article often uses the term antique to describe any tractor designed before the early 1960s, before the influences of the'Space Race' and modern electronics. At roughly this time, modern metals, alloys, and plastics, as well as automated manufacturing strategies, began to change the appearance and the performance of tractors. Do not despair if your fave'antique' is a 1968 Ford. This book will still be relevant, valuable, and important reading. If your favorites antique is a 1917 Moline Universal, you'll also find this book a vital part of your library, though I recommend you think hard and long before putting the tractor to work on chores I recommend and explain later on in the book.

Tractors this old can be unbecoming and hazardous for many modern jobs. Whether an antique tractor is safe depends essentially on the operator, and on the answer to many questions : Is the operator educated about the tractor and implement? Yet any tractor can be dangerous and even deadly if the operator fails to make safety his or her number-one priority. The operator must make sure that the tractor is in correct running condition and must operate it rigorously and suitably to attenuate hazards. They own antique tractors for mawkish reasons, investment potential, and a pile of other reasons unrelated to agriculture. Antique tractors retain their worth as working machines. In addition, individual parts that are much in demand can command premium prices. For instance, a total and working carburetor for many models can fetch over 0. Even if you do make a small money, the rate of return would make any good financial planner giggle. The rare or unusual tractor that makes its owner a handsome profit is more legend that fact, and being fortunate enough to own one is a very not likely probability.

In today's economy, it is imperative that we all save money. Farmers in particular have been hit the hardest over the past few decades, and because of this they are always on the lookout for a good deal. Tractors are an essential part of a farmer's equipment and they don't come cheap-which is why the market for used tractors is booming.

So you're in the market for a used tractor, where do you look? There is of course the old stand-by-the classified ads. The classifieds in your local newspaper is certainly one option, but these days it is very limited. With the advent of the internet, you can now look for used tractors worldwide. A quick search on your favorite search engine will turn up plenty of dealers willing to sell you a used tractor, but you first need to make sure you know what you're getting into. Avoid sites that charge you hidden fees, over time, these could add up so much that you'd be better off buying a new tractor. Dealers that sell their used tractors through eBay, such as www.saveonfarmmachinery.com, are a great option. eBay is a reputable service that charges the seller fees, not you.

What type of antique tractor had metal(sheet) covering the top of its tracks?
I have seen this old Antique tractor every time I go to church. Its rusty but looks like a Johne deere MC. This type of tractor has the tracks like a tank. When I drove by it I saw on both sides of the tractor sheet metal covering the top of its tracks. Not the sides just the top from back to front. I know Catipillar and John Deere had sheet metal covering the tracks near the seat, but not from front to back. When I say sheet metal i mean it looks sturdy not flimsy cheap steal. Anyways if you could tell me any names or Info on this that would be great thanks, Tyler

    • ANSWER:
It could be many different models of a Caterpillar tractor. They will have the metal covering the whole track si so it can be walked on.

  12. QUESTION:
What copyright laws do I need to know before selling reproduced antique signs?
My father creates antique signs made from old advertisements. He carves them out of wood and gives them as gifts. He'd like to start selling them on the internet but we need to know more about copyright laws. Many of the signs he has made are of companies that are no longer in business, but he would like to look into using some old Coca-Cola or John Deere ads.

From my knowledge, there might be some problems with the companies that are still in business, but not the older companies that are no longer around. Is that correct?

He has also bought tin signs in stores and attached them to wood and made them look more antique. Can he resell those since he legally bought them?

    Thanks for your help!
He normally gets the images that he uses out of old clip art books that he used to use when he designed newspaper advertisements. He thinks that because he was able to legally use the images for newspaper ads, that he shouldn't have any problems with creating a unique type of advertisment on wood. If his assumption is true, then if he uses a old illustration or photo of a Ford Model T on a sign, would he be able to use the Ford logo or even the Ford name not in it's logo format? The opwner of the copyright may not be the company advertised, it may be held by the advertising agency preparing the ad or even the artisit responsible for it. Your Dad might still run into problems with companies long since defunct.

Also the copyright laws vary from country to country (although they are very similar in most western countries). Assuming you are in the USA this website gives you a good overview of the legal position about copyright

  13. QUESTION:
Mom has collection of collectable toy tractors, some antique. She wants to sell but not ebay. Suggestions?
Stepfather left mom a collection of collectable toy tractors when he passed away. Most are John Deere ERTLE tractors, but some are older including an early 1900's McCormick Derring Cast Iron Tractor in Excellent Condition. Mom wants to sell the collection but doesn't do e-bay and doesn't have a lot of time to sell these. Does anyone have a good suggestion for how she could best take care of this with the least work and the best results?

    • ANSWER:
Go to an antique store or fair & check out the booths. You'll usually find at least one who specializes in antique toys. She should take a list of the tractors with her & maybe an antique dealer will buy them from her. If there isn't a dealer booth there the owner will know who to refer her to. Also ask the owner if he/she knows who can appraise the items.

Also, check the want ads for appraisers and the "Want to Buy" ads.
She could also put an ad in the paper once she knows their value.

Some unusable things may be usable things for somebody else. Your unusable articles have attracted somebody, who may have some idea with it. Probably he may sell the same in the market where somebody will be doing some kind of recycling of such things for which he may be getting some bucks. Or else, he might be interested in collecting in suchitems.

Antique John Deere Tractors Ebay

antique john deere tractors | eBay

Farmall Tractors are part of the Case IH family of tractors, but it was the original row crop tractor, that many manufacturers duplicated. For those that are familiar with old or antique tractors, it is a popular model among collectors, and many of them were capable of taking the place of the plow horses they replaced, back in the day. Like all good things, eventually these workhorse tractors would break down, but many farmers kept their Farmall Tractors going, part by part.

As tractor manufacturers became privy to the plight of selling new tractors to farmers that would keep their beloved Farmalls alive, Farmall tractor parts became more scarce for the older models, almost on purpose, it might have seemed. Today, many of the oldest tractors are in the hands of antique tractor collectors, although there are probably still some of them in existence and working on small family farms. Farmall tractor parts still enjoy a high demand, for this purpose.

Like many of the International Harvester brands of tractors, the Farmall tractor went through several model changes from its original prototype release in 1923. Through a combination of series, that evolved over a period of time, to perform additional duties, they would evolve from their original letter series to a "super series" that progressively demonstrated more tricks. This didn't daunt some of the die-hard Farmall fans that owned earlier series tractors, that were still in running condition and quite capable for what they needed.
